Ok, after all those MOR (yep, face the truth) I posted earlier time to look into some music designed primarily for dancing.
First, I have to say that I somehow underestimated Claude Vonstroke, whom I like, but his tracks/remixes were getting quite homogenous for a while - even the best idea loses impact repeated over and over. This said, I am totally stunned by this remix he did for Poxymusic feat. Gina Mitchell. For my ear, at times he seems to be channeling Jaydee's "Plastic Dreams", but the result is by no means smashing, especially if you happened to know the original track.
Luke Solomon, on the other hand, just came up with a new album and there is much rave about it. Well, I'm not sure - I'll stick to his singles and remixes, as "The Difference Engine", although neatly executed, brings me very little excitement. Maybe it's because of some samples he uses - come on, do we really need to hear the same quotes from Uncle Bill and McKenna all over again? "Storm the studio", anyone? Is it a hommage to Meat Beat Manifesto? Btw, Jack Dangers also have a new album and it's not good at all. Anyway, here's a new remix Luke Solomon did for Andomat 3000.

with a little effort...
...I managed to put online some more, well, stuff and the like. For now Kotek Records Shelter is here. Not much dance music up there.

crossover
just check those new instrumentals from Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Ying Yang Twins... plus a bonus party, well, anthem from Pitbull & Lil Jon.
bigger then massive
I'll be really disappointed If Mirror Dance won't be one of the biggest tunes of this year. Enfants already is. First one is an African house techno crossover, second - minimal with some nursery rhyme in French and a touch of Nina Simone. Not the best bitrate - just enough for you to check and go to your nearest record store. Money well spent on these two.

back inna jungle...
...just like John Rambo. Stumbled upon a huge collection of drum and bass discographies at Aural Virus (he's got some dope stuff, and A LOT of dubstep too) and picked this one - it's 001 on Creative Source, and it was among my first "jungle" records back in '95. Of course it got lost, stolen, sold, swapped or broken, but the term "jungle" still makes sense if you listen to "Carlito's Way"...

Mr. Green
Adam Green used to be in a group called The Moldy Peaches - and I have to admit that although this name rings a bell, I'm completely not familiar with their output. It also seems that he enjoys quite successful solo career for the last six years, and managed to release four solo albums, which I apparently missed. Okay, his fifth record "Sixes and Sevens" is out soon via Rough Trade, and all I can say is that I'm totally, and completely, sold on this one.
People keep comparing Green to Jonathan Richman and Leonard Cohen - ok, maybe, but this album for me sounds like a crossover between Scott Walker (of course, because it seems like today literally every singer is influenced by Scott Walker) and Nick Cave, with very clever lyricism and a healthy dose of weird humor.

Loveless is full of love
Japancakes are from Athens, GA and "Loveless", released last Fall, is, well, My Bloody Valentine's classic 1991 album, replayed in its entirety. Instead of massive wall of sound tho, we have some pleasant American instrumental ramblings with cello as a leading instrument. What's the point in covering the whole album, you may ask. Well it seems stupid to me as well, especially when you have an undisputed masterpiece to start with, but in this case the result is surprisingly pleasant to the ear. Enjoy, and remember the originals!

I deleted most of the older files in order to make some space for new stuff... if you're in desperate need of any of these songs, you can drop me a line, but I think it'll be better if you could do some search on your own...

Make a jazz noise here
According to a survey from about 3 years back, for almost 80% of music lovers jazz is the least favorite genre. Wonder why. Is it because of trombone? Tuba? Or maybe because people think it's all, God forbid, improvised?
Anyway, decide for yourself. Below you'll find tunes from some of my most respected musicians of today - Uri Caine, Dave Douglas and Matthew Shipp.
First two worked together on numerous occasions, also taking part in John Zorn's Masada project. You wonder why I'm not posting any Zorn here? Well, having a major respect for his work, I simply don't like him very much.
As for Matthew Shipp, he played for years with mighty David S.Ware and today seems to stand as maybe the most brilliant and original jazz pianist in the world. Just two tracks now, but much more to come.

welcome back, Slot X
My dear friend Slot X, after disappearing for months he spent fighting as a lonely soldier of fortune somewhere in the Golden Triangle (or was it Zangaro?) is back into blogosphere. Apparently, he ran out of hand grenades, or his Swiss Army knife got broken (stolen? lost?). Anyway, he's got a new blog which looks very promising. So head off to sick6sick and show this guy some love.

ok go
ok here I am. some of you were complaining that I force you to download possibly illegal files in order to find out artists' names... ok, I'll try to make it easier, maybe I'll fix the names in previous posts one day... anyway, here's some new stuff because I know that is the new stuff you'd like to find here. yes, I know that you want full albums and no, I won't post any. search in the internets or better, find some in good record stores, as I do. sometimes. when there's a sale.
First there's Hercules and Love Affair - it's a new project on DFA and they recruited Antony to provide vocals. And, if you ask me, there's no better place for Antony Hegarty than a discotheque. It's the first single, and when I get my hands on the remixes (Frankie Knuckles and Serge Santiago, we're talking HOUSE here) I'll try to up them as well.

Next is Vampire Weekend, a smart NY combo which just released its debut album. Its slightly over 30 minutes, smart, light and full of joy. And did I mention smart? in the second song they are namechecking Peter Gabriel, and I like it.

Don't know much about YMCK except from their home: Japan. It's refreshing in small doses, definitely cute, and swirling 8-bit machinery drives you crazy after more than 3 tracks. So only two for you.

New on Matador, we have Times New Viking. Just one track, 1:12 long, it sums up the whole thing (album titled "Rip It Off") pretty nice.
